FLICK REVIEW: Shooter

I knew Mark Wahlberg when he was Marky Mark and he was a member of the Funky Bunch. My first memory of him was in the video "You Gotta Believe" and let me tell you, I became a believer. Next came the Calvin Klein underwear ad (sidebar: Thank you Mr. Klein). But then he ditched his bad boy image and became a very talented actor. His intensity and painfully good looks have served him well.

A bunch of my girlfriends and I went to see Shooter on Good Friday and I was rather impressed with the movie. It had the standard plot - an ex-military sniper lured out of self-imposed retirement to serve as a consultant on how to thwart a presidential assassination only to be framed for the crime. He then spends the rest of the movie trying to clear his name, in the process blowing up and blowing to bits anything or anyone who stands in his way. No real great surprises but Marky plays the role well.

In a few short years, he's gone from a delinquent rapper to a distinguished and believable actor. And I'm not just saying that because I think he's tasty piece of chicken that I'd like to put in my pocket and snack on all day long.

Upon leaving the theater we had our post-movie review and we were all in agreement that Mark was unbelievably gorgeous and even if this movie was in Russian we would probably still go and see it. I wouldn't describe it as a "Chick Flick" in a traditional sense but it definitely was a movie that chicks would enjoy if they had a sugar craving because it certainly would satisfy their sweet tooth! It's a good movie for guys to see too because it's full of action, suspense and run-and-gun drama. The ultimate date movie, something to satisfy both sexes! Money well spent. But guys, if you plan on getting some 'action' after watching this movie don't be surprised or offended if your girl daydreams about Marky Mark in his Calvins....ahhhhhh.......
