Well, I had been anticipating this movie for quite a while - the reason, you ask?! Well, I'm a sucker for mystery suspense thrillers. While most kids were reading Lord of the Rings and Sweet Valley High, I was flipping through Stephen King books like crazy.
Now my initial reaction was quite favorable. However, the more I thought about it, the aftertaste grew quite sour. I thought they fell short in this movie. They had really good character development until about the middle of the show. Robert Downey Jr. was having "an award show consideration" role of a lifetime...until. Until they left him out on the proverbial limb with an endless bottle of vodka.
They also presented really cool subplots only to take you out on a different limb and saw it off at the source. They just left you hangin'.
Apparently, the character of Harry "Dirty Harry" Callahan is based on the life of the lead Inspector Dave Toschi, who investigated the Zodiac killer. Clint delivered a classic line in that flick, which just so happens to be 51st on AFI's 100 most famous movie quotes. Don't believe me, check it out.
So that's it...it was an ooooookay movie. I'd wait and rent it at home, unless you've seen everything else or you really want to see it.
Yes Clint, this punk feels lucky!
