FLICK REVIEW: Pirates of the Carribbean

When the word Pirate comes to mind, you often envision a gluttonous, dirty, toothless, unkempt man, however Johnny Depp has changed that image, at least in my mind. Who knew pirates could be so sexy (please pardon my digression, sigh). Despite the obvious eye candy, this was a very entertaining movie. There was humour, sword fights and a very funny fight battle in a humongous wooden wheel.

I will make one recommendation: Watch the first one again to ease the transition into the second movie's plot. It was quite a while since I'd seen the first one and I think it would have helped. But having said that, it's 2.5 hrs and well worth the hefty pricetag of a night at the movies. Why don't they make movies like this anymore?!! It kind of reminded me of the Indiana Jones franchise, the sense of adventure, risk and unpredictability. I'm not one to make promises or guarantees but I'm pretty sure that you'll leave the movie feeling like you got your money's worth. But I'm not making any promises or guarantees!! ;)

I'd give it 4.25 out of 5.

May the Force be With you...

Footnote #1 - I don't know if it's the same in your office or workplace, but I find I can totally tell who's seen this movie because they challenge you to a duel with anything from a carrot stick to a pencil and instead of walking by and greeting you with a simple "hello" they swagger around saying things like "Aaarrrrrr". Too funny!!

Footnote #2 Softball Update - 4 wins 3 losses (won a doubleheader in like 40 degree heat - it was, as one person so eloquently stated, "hot as balls")
